Absences and Illness
Absent Children
Ladbrooks operates a phone-in system which is designed to avoid any uncertainty regarding the welfare of children who do not arrive at school.
Parents are asked to notify the school office by 8.55am if their child is going to be absent from school.
Our number is 329 6885.
Any child who is late in arriving at school needs to let the office secretary know so that his/her arrival can be noted in the absence book. Unless a genuine reason for lateness occurs, your child needs to be at school and in their classroom ready to begin the school day by 8.55am.
Sick Children
Please keep sick children at home. The best way to contain germs is to minimise contact with others.
Vomitting and Diarrhoea
Public Health recommendations are that anyone who has had vomitting or diarrhoea stay at home for at least 24 hours after the last incidence of the vomitting or diarrhoea. This means keeping your child at home for another day after they last were actually sick to prevent the spread of these highly contagious germs to others.
Practising Coughing and Sneezing Hygiene
- minimise contact with others
- cough or sneeze into a tissue (not your hand)
- dispose of soiled tissues
- keep a distance of 2m from someone who is coughing or sneezing (important to keep coughs and sneezes at home!)
- wash hands frequently with soap and then dry carefully
