Dyslexia
Ladbrooks School recognises that dyslexia and other learning differences can have a significant impact on a child's experience of school life. Our school is committed to addressing this, and we are proud to be part of the Dyslexia Foundation's 4D | For Dyslexia programme which enables schools to make meaningful changes to help dyslexic students succeed.
The 4D programme sets out a three-step approach to change, comprising:
- Producing a written policy statement setting out the school's approach to dyslexia
- Outlining a strategy for addressing dyslexia in the classroom
- Implementing the strategy, including making simple adjustments to the classroom environment
We are currently working to produce these initial materials, and we will update this page as we complete this. In the meantime, to read more about the exciting work of 4D please go to www.4Dschools.org.nz
Laughton King Seminars
In early December 2008 we were fortunate to have Psychologist and Dyslexic, Laughton King, come and run a seminar for our staff and our parents. Thanks to PALS for funding this.
Laughton left four articles which may be of interest to parents and can be accessed below.
Tell Me - What is it like to be dyslexic?
What else goes with being dyslexic?
What do you mean - ADD / ADHD?
