Nature Ninjas
Ladbrooks School is an EnviroSchool. This means that we actively consider the impact that we have on our environment and are always looking for ways to be sustainable in the things we do.
Back in 2008 we formed an Envirogroup. This group is called the NATURE NINJAS! We meet every Friday at 12:40. Jo is the teacher who has the responsibility for our group.
In 2009 we achieved our Bronze Enviroschools Award which was a great achievement for our school.
During 2011 we have been working on a number of projects, including the planting out of our section of Sharpes Drain. We have really enjoyed working with Stephen Brailsford from the Ellesmere Waihora Trust who has helped us plant a variety of natives to improve this area.
Our Scrap metal collection has continued to provide us with funding for our landscaping project at the front of our school. We are hoping to have this completed by the end of this year. The project will be complete when we have our jetty/wharf, a Japanese style bridge, a water tank and pump and a stone sculpture!
In Spetember we attended a Enviro schools camp at Pudding Hill. The theme for this camp was water conservation.
We really appreciate the help we get from Frana, one of our parents, and Jen Rodgers our Enviroschools coordinator.
